I disagree, again. This context is clear to you or anybody else on this list. It might be not for folks not as familiar with Pike as you. Sometimes one has to step down from the pedestal and look at the whole picture from a slightly different angle. After all, the documentation isn't for you - it is for people who are to learn Pike.
With the interpretation you made, the sentences have to to be unrelated.
Then how would you explain that a few people shared the interpretation? If it was only me, then I'd probably be the one to blame for the weakness of mind, but there were several voices on this forum and a few outside of it that confirmed the, in your opinion, incorrect interpretation. That's enough of a reason to state that the message is ambiguous, I think.
