These are the functions I use now: array(int)|int utf8_byte_index_to_char_number(array(int)|int c,string utf8) { if (arrayp(c)) return map(c,utf8_byte_index_to_char_number,utf8); return c && strlen(utf8_to_string(utf8[..c-1])); } array(int)|int char_number_to_utf8_byte_index(array(int)|int c,string wide) { if (arrayp(c)) return map(c,char_number_to_utf8_byte_index,wide); return c && strlen(string_to_utf8(wide[..c-1])); } ...if someone feels like writing them in C and adding them to String or something it would probably not be horribly bad. :)

I need a hack for utf8 conversion, utf8 string byte offset <-> character number Anyone that knows enough utf8 and feels up to it?

I'm going to create the module _PCRE, so it can configure and load nicely without interference from the main Regexp module, and let it be a rather raw glue for a better glue in Regexp.PCRE.

Could someone tell me why the file object in Filesystem.Tar (or rather the tar object it resides in I'm guessing) isn't removed immediately. > sizeof(Stdio.get_all_active_fd()); (1) Result: 10 > object f=Filesystem.Tar("../../test.tar"); > sizeof(Stdio.get_all_active_fd()); (2) Result: 11 > destruct(f); (3) Result: 0 > sizeof(Stdio.get_all_active_fd()); (4) Result: 11

nasm and alpha platform ?

Hello there, I've got this bug on FreeBSD/Alpha http://bento.freebsd.org/errorlogs/alpha-4-latest/pike74-7.4.25.log because pike still want to use nasm on Image module on non x86 platform. Is there any workaround for that? Or do I have to manualy patch the autoconf script to avoid that ? /Xavier

If it didn't need " quoted either, it would be quite useful for Pike programs writing Pike programs or HTML or the like...

xenofarm target problem with 7.5 build

Hi, There is a slight problem with xenofarm client. In case if several arguments are specified, it just stop since second argument will be interpreted as command name.
