The following code generates the warning: Attempt to override a non local variable "foo" with a non variable. class A { function foo; } class B { inherit A; void foo() { return; } } How can that warning be avoided?

Pike 7.4.31 is broken on FreeBSD 4.x (was: caudium-devel-1.3.21.20031129,2 broken on 4.x)

Hello there, Seems that for some obscure reasons that pike 7.4.31 is broken on FreeBSD 4.x... Sql interface

Is there anything deterministic about what Sql.Sql->create() throws? fresh cvs checkout failes to build

Hi, A fresh cvs checkout of Pike 7.5 fails to build complaining about a missing machine.h.in Whats wrong? (Crosscheck with 7.4 shows there was one in older versions, check with the web-cvs-browser shows, there is none in the latest cvs repository) --- Ludger Merkens

NULL value

I am attempting to call a function inside an object. But the function doesn't exist inside all objects that are run through the function. PIKE throws a runtime error of "Attempt to call the NULL-value". Is there any way to override this and have PIKE return a 0 instead. Or are there any other means of checking to see if the function exists inside the passed object? The function exists in more than one different object so I am not sure function_object() will work in this instance since it exists in more than one object. Depending on whether ptrdiff_t exists or not: A) Make sure that configure finds the ptrdiff_t type and thus tests for a way to print it or B) Don't use PRINTPTRDIFFT on something which isn't a ptrdiff_t / Marcus Comstedt (ACROSS) (Hail Ilpalazzo!) As a kludge, yes. I think the *right* fix would be to test against a non-typed pointer diff in configure if ptrdiff_t isn't available. Hello there, Seems that some code in new pike 7.5 use some special extension of Gcc (3.x I assume) : /usr/home/kiwi/Pike-v7.5.17/src/array.c:268: syntax error before `PRINTPTRDIFFT' /usr/home/kiwi/Pike-v7.5.17/src/array.c: In function `simple_set_index': /usr/home/kiwi/Pike-v7.5.17/src/array.c:321: syntax error before `PRINTPTRDIFFT' /usr/home/kiwi/Pike-v7.5.17/src/array.c: In function `array_get_item_ptr': /usr/home/kiwi/Pike-v7.5.17/src/array.c:1295: syntax error before `PRINTPTRDIFFT' The code that blown is : index_error(0,0,0,&tmp,ind, "Index %"PRINTPIKEINT"d is out of array range " "%"PRINTPTRDIFFT"d..%"PRINTPTRDIFFT"d.\n", p, -a->size, a->size-1); The %"PRINTPTRDIFFT" part is not handled by my GCC (gcc 2.95.4 20020320 [FreeBSD]). Removing the "PRINTPTRDIFFT solve the problem since FreeBSD 4.8 / 4.9 are stable OS and gcc 2.95.x are on lots of OS. BTW: I am in the process to add a pikefarm there to show Pike developpers the problems. /Xavier
