Calling Pike functions with variable number of arguments from C

Is it as simple as pushing all the required parameters to the stack and then calling the Pike function as usual? (i.e. with apply_svalue or apply_low) TIA, marek

Postgres support bug?

I've tried using the Postgres module a bit lately, and now I've stumbled across an odd behaviour: db->list_fields(table_name) throws an error "Error in frontend-backend communications.". This seems to be caused by the list_fields() function assuming that the "pg_class" table always has a "relexpires" columns, which is not the case in the Postgres database I'm connecting to. Should there always be a "relexpires" column in the "pg_class" table in a Postgres database (that is, is the one I'm connecting to buggy?), or is Pike just making in incorrect assumption?

Problems with pike -x module

I'm trying to work my way through the external module building process, and I figured I'd start with one of the internal pike modules, to be built outside the tree. MacKenzie and Akim Demaille. Obviously something is not right here, but I don't know enough about autoconf to know what might be the problem. I believe it has something to do with the aclocal.m4 in the include/pike directory, but I don't want to fiddle with that if I don't have to. I'm testing on a solaris 7 box with autoconf 2.54 and gm4 1.4. Any ideas? Bill

Failed tests again (v7.4.15/CVS 2003-02-21)

Hi all, Just tried latest CVS (v7.4.15), it still doesn't pass test suite completely, and again because of Calendar (mostly) module, however everything else is perfectly OK. Perhaps someone could look at the results and tell me what might be wrong? http://aldem.net/pike/failed I just cannot believe that this problem is related to Slackware Linux only... And I need this damn SSL module, which is dependent on Calendar :) Thanks, /Al

Ok, so I ran into a problem because rusage.h has been renamed pike_rusage.h due to old dependencies. Thus I run "make depend". However this fails as well, because make depend compiles Pike. This is no good - make depend should make dependencies! I have to manually edit the 'dependencies' files. How about using the method used by PExts instead - the configure process creates the dependencies. Works really well I think (does of course make configuration slower).

Mysql

I just found a bug in Pike under Solaris. I changed the layout of my mysql installation a bit and therefor I had to put some new options in my /etc/my.cnf. Since I want my pike-applications to use that file for the defaults, I tried object o = Sql.sql("mysql://localhost/db", ([ "mysql_config_file":"/etc/my.cnf" ])); which should give me access to the database. Instead I get a backtrace. After inserting a few printfs I concluded that the second ifdef statement is false and thus the code within the inner ifdefs doesn't execute. MYSQL_READ_DEFAULT_FILE & Co are defined within mysql.h from the MySQL source within an enum construction. If I try to print the value of it using a printf, it shows that MYSQL_READ_DEFAULT_FILE==4. So, what causes all the inner ifdefs in pike_mysql_set_options() to fail? Right now I'm using one of the latest Pike 7.3 from CVS and a mysql 4.0.10-gamma server.

How do I make a PIKEVAR in a .cmod static? The following PIKEVAR string digits flags ID_STATIC; (derived from how you make PIKEFUNs statuc) does not work at all. Neither do the more intuitive attempts PIKEVAR static string digits; or static PIKEVAR string digits; So what is the correct incantation?

HilfeInput:1: HilfeInput()->___HilfeWrapper() > Sorry? Where is the range, and what is it overlapping with? If I remove either of the three characters from the set, the code works...

String.Bootstring

What is a Bootstring? Both the testsuite and the documentation appears to be somewhat lacking in describing this class.
