I am unable to get to the pike homepage to download the latest bits and read the documents. Anyone have any information?
Hmm. Checking the logs the traffic started to drop of yesturday after 19 and didn't come back until after 19 today. Curious.
I'm the mystery person who killed the server at around 19. Before that it was not possible to connect to the webserver (connections were neither accepted nor refused, they just hang). kill -QUIT and kill -TERM seemed to have no effect whatsoever.
And now the same state seems to have arisen again. Connections to port 80 hang indefinitely without either being accepted or refused, ssh works fine...
The very very ancient version of LogView has been started for some reason. I don't know if it's the problem now, but in the part it has been a sure-fire way to lock up the server on Pelix.
Trying to remember how to turn it of the correct way...
Possibly, I'll have to do it manually though. Cross your fingers and hope I remember how.
Done, but I think I've found the real error. The logdisk was finally full.
Compressing log from 2008 and forward as we speek. The next differential backup will be unfun, but this should keep us going until pelix is killed.
If you check that the logging is not configured to log the clients hostname is also a good idea. The default logging method is $host on older roxen (<5.0 I think), and that does a dns-lookup. But that may already been taken cared of.
