Anyway, I think a better solution than including it in Pike, is to dig up a pointer to a good location where the file can be downloaded.

As 'libmmx', I think. It was only the .h-file.

Well, it has not changed since '98 or so, so I don't think that would be all that much better, really.
On the other hand, I don't think it's really faster to use the that file.

Ah, and http://min.ecn.purdue.edu/~rfisher/Research/Libmmx/libmmx.html was its homepage. From the LSM entry there, I conclude that it is also PD, which should mean that we can safely put it in Pike CVS too, at least the version available there. (Has it changed since 990416?)

Most likely no. The last history entry in my file is from 981013, but I'm not sure mine is the latest available.

That version doesn't work for me:
/usr/local/include/mmx.h:72: can't find a register in class `AREG' while reloading `asm'
gcc-3.2-r1

I fixed my version and now it compiles fine. Should I check it into the Pike tree? (Where?)
I noticed that the same (non-patched) file is distributed with MPlayer, but for some reason not used.
