Given Pike's origin I find it somewhat strange that there's not many references to any MUD's in Pike. The only one I know of is Hubbe's YumeMUD and the one I'm currently working on.
I recommended Pike on a vworld mailing list and got as a response that they couldn't find anything about it on the Pike web site. I know that the only text mentioning it before was on the testimonials page, but that text isn't there anymore. It's a shame since I'm having problem getting vworld developers to be interested in Pike when it's not "encouraged" on the Pike pages.
Anybody got any links to Pike MUD's I could forward? Except YumeMUD then :)

Pike has its history in LPC, but isn't written to be a MUD language. LPC4, a precursor to µLPC (later renamed to Pike), started a mud when you have it no other parameters. However LPC4 was derived from LPC rather than written from scratch.
This is not saying that Pike isn't suitable for MUDs - it might very well be. It's just not written for it. Also to the best of my knowledge there are no other MUDs written in Pike.

The main problem with Pike and muds is the somewhat underdeveloped (or at least underdocumented) security system, if it's planned to have programmers with limited access in the system.

Yes, the security system I never got around understanding. I don't use it right now (for obvious reasons), but could someone explain the fundamentals behind that?

there are a few projects using muds or mud design as a base. (so they are not traditional muds)
gime (the developers site used to be at gime.org, but now it displays the chinese website for the game, i wonder what happened)
sTeam (www.open-steam.org) not even a game but a system for cooperative work, the basic design is a mud. (remember there were quite some experiements with turning muds into systems to cooperate (learning muds and the like))

Looks like they switched to Lima (with MudOS driver). I don't know why since my chinese is a bit rusty ;)

that was my first thought too, but i find that rather hard to believe, they were actually working on switching to haskell.

That's what I remember too. And I think I actually got the Pike code they used for Gime on a computer somewhere. They released it when they switched to haskell. If I find the code I can check with them if it's ok to use/modify and release. Even though I can't remember it it's at all usable.

it was released under the GPL. (i have a copy of the code too somewhere, and even had it running once i think, but never had the time to do anything with it)
greetings, martin.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gime/ i don't think it is uptodate though...
