If someone feel they don't have enough exitement in their lives feel free to test
URL:http://peter.bortas.org/pikedev/Pike-7.4.35beta-win32-bhelliom.exe or URL:http://peter.bortas.org/pikedev/Pike-7.5.17alpha-win32-bhelliom.exe
They are totally untested and only intended for testing some changes to the installation package: * ICON rescource in pike.exe * New installer icon * Added possibility to use 10 instead on 1 argument to pike.exe on the command line. * Fixed up my win32 compileation environment again.
Observe: I haven't even tried to run these executables since my win32 testing system is currently spread all over my workbench. Feel free to report back if it does work though.
Great. I could start Aido with 7.4.35 (though GLUE.Debug fails), which means that all essential parts are there. If I crash Pike I don't get any debug symbols in Visual Studio, but then there is no pdb file in the dist either.
Pike 7.5.17 works even better (GLUE.Debug compiles). Still no debug symbols, though there is a pdb file. Is there someone with Windows experience that can look at this?
No GLUT in any of the Pikes.

I didn't try to get debug symbols in them. That will be todays excersize.

The doc directory in the 7.5 dist is empty. There should at least be an autodoc.xml file there.
We could stop including pike.ico, since it is in the binary file.
Right now there is only the installation type "Full installation", which looks a bit silly. We could either remove it to avoid the dialog asking for installation type or we could split up Pike into components. I like the second option with the components

That would be nice, but that would require a real install of files instead of using the burk-file.

Perhaps we should distribute an archive with the files you need to make your own installer. Good for those who want to distribute Pike applications on windows.
1. Download Inno Setup and ISTool 2. Download Pike Windows Builders package 3. Load the iss file from the Pike packe into ISTool and add your own files. 4. Compile, redistribute and make people happy.

Have you seen ISTool? It's an iss editor.

Sure.

I have a .iss-editor: XEmacs. Innosetup contains it's own editor if need be. ISTool might be nice for someone making a new installer from scratch.

The big plus is that you get to see all the options that are available. E.g. we could change the icon of the installation program as well if we like.

Oohh.. Perhaps we should think of some different colors for - installation binary - pike binary - .pike files - .pmod files - uninstall binary
green, dark blue, blue, grey, red?

Take a look at URL:http://peter.bortas.org/pikedev/Pike-v7.4.35-Win32-Windows-NT-5.1.2600-i86pc.exe and see if it's any better. If not I'll take a look at what rntcl feeds MSVC tomorrow.

The 7.4.11 (or was it 7.4.23) dist has working debug symbols. Not through a pdb file though, if I remember correctly.

Has there ever been a win32 pike version with working debug symbols distributed?
What I am asking is if it's even possible to make one.
