Hi,
Just in case - I did setup Mantis to aid bug reporting, tracking etc. It's located at: http://pike.strongfire.net/bts/ Anonymous access (report/view only) is enabled, account registration too. If anybody thinks this might be useful (I believe it is, since currently we have no real bug-tracking system), please, sign-in, then we can annouce this on the site and in pike-users ML so it can be used.
Obviously, all current cvs-commiters will get "manager" status on project Pike (just inform me when you register there), or any other projects they want to manage and/or track there - I am open to suggestions. I am sorry that Mantis is not written in Pike, but it is simple to use and powerful enough, it can be used now and it will simplify (hopefully) life of those who hunt bugs :) If nobody is interested - well, I'll use it for my own projects only :) Regards, /Al

Very good:)
Just one question: why Mantis ?
Personnaly I use Bugzilla and find it nice but probably Mantis is good too.
I think that for a BTS for Pike, it's smart to use a pre-existing software even if it's not written in Pike. The time of Pike developers should be, if possible, spent on the Pike language. Even without this I'm quite sure no one would write a BTS like Mantis or Bugzilla in Pike and if not it wouldn't be available soon.
If nobody is interested - well, I'll use it for my own projects only :)
There should be a link from the Pike website in order to make it "official" if people want to use it (Personnaly I would).

I think it's a nice initiative and after just a quick look it seems fair enough. Can it send all bug activity to an email address?

Yes, sure. It can be done by default and you can monitor specific bugs only - all email levels are easily configurable (you'll need an account to be able to change your preferences, though).

Yes, most people don't care how it looks like, but if there is a choice without penalty (performance/useability) I prefer nice-looking systems :)

Well, I don't know :) We use Mantis in company, and I use it in some other projects too, it is easy to setup, so... :)
I hope it won't lead to discussion which BTS is better and why - since we don't have _any_ (the one at Roxen site is almost dead and outdated), it would be silly :)

Let's see. I did my part :)

One feature with a bugzilla setup is that it's probably a bit simpler to import all the old tickets from the Roxen Crunch system. There's still a lot of relevant stuff in those.

Just export it from Roxen's tracker - I'll see how easy this is in Mantis. There are some import scripts around, so I don't think this will be a big problem.
