I've reported this to debian, but maybe the dev-list can also shed some light on the the topic.
On one system, pike7.8 from debian installs correctly. However on one other, using a AMD Geode processor (if that has anything to do with it), it fails while dumping.
I get this when I do the following command by hand: #pike -x dump -r /usr/lib/pike7.8
Error in attached textfile.

That's a bit different story (or a different part of the same story perhaps) than the Debian bug report, where pike -x dump seems to die from an uncaught SIGALRM.
