Hello all,
I've prepared a new stable release candidate (beta) for everyone's building pleasure. 7.8.696 may be downloaded from:

Please feel free to try it out and please do report back on any success or failures.
Best,
Bill
Hello all,
Hi Bill.
I've prepared a new stable release candidate (beta) for everyone's building pleasure. 7.8.696 may be downloaded from:
Great. I've now added a corresponding ebuild to the pike overlay for Gentoo.
Any feedback on 7.8.696? Good? Bad? Ugly?
If it looks okay, I'd like to start preparing binary dists…
Bill

Well, it compiles and installs without complaint on my Gentoo machines, so it can't be too bad... :-)

I've prepared a few binary packages (MacOSX 10.5,6,7 and Solaris 10/intel). They all look good, so they've been uploaded. I tried to prepare builds for OpenIndiana, but both the 64 and 32 bit versions failed on the Gettext test suite (SEGV). The error looks like it's coming from within libc, so it seems like it might be a bug in OpenIndiana.
I think if we can get a windows build, I'll declare success and make an announcement.
Mast,
Any chance you'd be able to put together a windows build of 7.8.696?

You may need to make sure that the include files in your include path match the libraries in your library path. There are both GNU and Sun versions of some libraries available, and if you get header files from one and libraries from the other it will not work.

I always come in with stuff like this at bad times, but how about including 03c2dbbab0b4529359c5caa2763ff97c081772f7?

I'm inclined to agree; my goal is to get a new release out every 3 months, so even if we don't hold this release for this change, it won't be very long before the process starts all over again for the next one.

Doesn't seem like a blocker to me.

I'm not a user of 7.8 anyway - this would have been more for the benefit of others, and I happily agree with whatever you think. However, if someone runs into this - no fun at all for him or her. :)
Well, I'm a 7.8 user but generally not on Linux :) That said, I think that shortly after we get this release out the door, I'll start getting ready for another release round. I have some things I'd like to fix related to the build process, so that will take a little while, but my goal is to have a release candidate out in the mid september range.
Does anyone know what the current state of xenofarm is? It'd make knowing whether it's worth doing a candidate a bit easier.
