We have been quite reluctant to add new modules recently, since the standard Pike module collection is bit on the big side. The Bz2 module was added more as a kind gesture to Andreas Finnman, who has been working on an evalutation of Pikes module interface as master thesis.
I think the general feeling is that there should be no more modules before we have a proper module system. Unfortunately I think there is quite a bit of work that has to go into designing and implementing a good module system. And that needs skilled and coordinated people that can actually do it.
