Well, C# has some similarities to Pike, but that is about it. I would rather say it's a mix of Java and C/C++ since the syntax (IMHO at least) is very javaish.
Pike-people have, since long before anyone ever heard of C#, been discussing the fact that Pike would benefit from a compile/runtime separation. One solution to the problem would be the one that has been discussed here the last few days.

Hello,
<puts on his asbestos suit>
I believe there is a pike-like language that runs on the mono JIT with excellent compiler and runtime support. It's called C#.
Why then try to turn a good language that has its niche and users into a half-baked copy of something else?
Because the mountain (of work) is there?
Regards,
Peter.
