Well, to be honest: Do we expect to drown in user contributed comments?
Probably not (although pure bot-created spam will be an issue too). It's not like Pike attracts large numbers of bad programmers. But it'll still be worth having some form of moderation, even if it's simply making it clear to people that comments can be removed.
(Also: Comments should be text-only. No HTML, not even Markdown or anything. That'll discourage the linkbots.)
