Are you saying that the compiler incorrectly optimized out the frame pointer or that incorrect code led the compiler to believe that it could optimize out the frame pointer?
I'm saying that the machine code generator relies on the frame pointer (or similar construct) being present to implement the *_JUMP opcodes.
