The MSVC approach relies on VC9 now a days, that's the one you get if you download the free Express edition from MS. That's the method I use. One virtualized Ubuntu for running the build process and a virtualized XP for the compiler.
Did anyone ever try to make a native VC solution to go with the source code? If so, what are the troubles there? Else, i could try that. It might take a long time, but once we got it, msvc could to the build process itself, and we just have to keep it current.
