Ok, so the point with this POSIX module would be not only to add it with a bunch of functions, but also to remove a bunch of functions elsewhere? Which functions would that be?

in this case it would mean moving quite a deal of functions around - from their current locations to the module, so it's not that straightforward compatibility-wise.
