The naming idea was to let more then one Pike be installed on the same system, using the same site-pike. But that might be overambitious. ^.^

A libpike.so is a good idea. Should the pike binary use it as well?
Definitely. libpike.so should contain an embeddable pike, and the pike binary just be a wrapper to start it up.
