I was hoping for a timeframe for a split this week, actually. And then I thought there can't be a whole lot of alternatives to do it traditionally with a cp -a in cvs, so that the xenofarm stuff and everything else on pelix keep chugging along.
Afterall, the mess can be sorted out afterwards in the exports to svn and git. It has been done before.
I was actually counting on a split using the old-and-proven CVS cp method, and that we actually switch repositories some time after that after all the dust has settled.
Because, indeed, waiting for the new repository (be it git or SVN or anything else) will not only delay things until is decided which way to move; but it will also stifle development because all tools need to be adjusted to the new repository before we can proceed.
So, in the spirit of Leisure Suit Larry: split early, split often.
