For instance an aclocal.m4 that actually contains the macros necessary for separate modules (see Bill Wellivers recent message on the Pike list). It's not clear that it should be the same one that pike uses.
A good start is probably to actually split off some modules as Mirar suggested and then build the tools to make it work, if any are necessary.

Yes, but since I don't know anything about how to handle C-code in a sane way I have not brought it up. What about the "pike -x module" that Comstedt did?
