The default behaviour of pike is to install symlinks to the binary from both "pike" and "pike"<major><minor>. That is, for pike 7.6, "pike" and "pike76", and for pike 7.7 "pike" and "pike77". I'm guessing someone has been doing some incomplete remodelling of how they want it to behave differently in Debian.
