That said, I still maintain that a Pike 8 branch, similar to the whole Perl 6 thing, would make sense. However I don't think we should have TWO development trees - having a total of 3 active trees probably would be a bad idea.

I think changing the name and/or forking Pike now or in the future would be very bad - I actually start running into unrelated people online that actually use and/or know of and like Pike. Changing the name would undermine that.
