Seems that Marek has such problems before as well...
Is there any way to not have a pike compiled with dumped modules without "tinkering" with a rm *.o ?

If I remove all ".pmod.o" files, then the problem disappears. But as soon as I run "make", the files get redumped and the problem reapprears. What's with this sudden dumping of modules in the build tree? That never used to happen before...
