Segfaults and module dumping failures starting in acab7b82dc

I've noticed that installs of 7.9 after commit acab7b82dc have started generating a large number of module dumping failures. Also, I have code that segfaults on startup starting with the same commit. The code is somewhat complicated, so I've not been able to boil it down to a simple test (yet). I'm not sure the gdb backtrace will be of much help, but I'll include it here. Any suggestions? I don't think a == comparison between a string and a string(0..255) should generate a warning. Is that really useful?

I want to ask about the change to have EXIF data modify the JPEG decoding. I can see why it would be desired to have a method that does it, but why would that be the default behavior? Are there any other applications/libs that does this by default?

Google Protocol Buffers

One of our customers asked about Pike support for Google Protocol Buffers [1]. I wasn't aware of that standard before but apparently it's been incorporated into a wide variety of languages [2]. One of our developers just did a hex string to int conversion with array_sscanf(x, "%x")[0]. Since we have int2hex, string2hex and hex2string I thought it would be symmetric to add a hex2int function as well. sscanf problem with %-F

I've noticed a problem with little endian float parsing in sscanf(): Pike v7.9 release 5 running Hilfe v3.5 (Incremental Pike Frontend) > string f = sprintf("%-8F", 3.25); > float z; > sscanf(f, "%-8F", z); (1) Result: 1 > z; (2) Result: 1.29642825468743e-320 The problem exists in 7.8.700 as well, but not 7.6.128.

In colortable.c in the Image module the last argument to _img_get_flat_from_image isn't used, but it has a lot of different values on the calling side. Should it be used?
