Size of GTK2.Widget

I miss the bindings for 'GtkWidget::allocation' in widgets in the pike bindings for GTK2. In the GTK(1)-module there is an allocation() method plus that there are the methods xsize(), ysize(), xoffset() and yoffset() on the GTK.Widget object. I need these for knowing the size of an widget. Anybody knows the reason for this?

(yet another) refcounting question

When using the following in a module initialization function: MAKE_CONSTANT_SHARED_STRING(a[i], "somestring"); the resulting string has a refcount of 2. if you then use free_string(a[i]); in the corresponding exit function, dmalloc reports a leak. when doing the same, but just on a pointer, rather than an array, dmalloc doesn't seem to care. Is this expected behavior? Is it an issue that the items aren't actually freed by free_string (because of the extra ref)? I'd imagine that it's probably not critical in this case, as we're talking about a module. Bill

Pike on Windows (take 247)

I'm back at compiling Pike on Windows, this time I'm using VC6; but I'm still having problems with main.c from 7.7 CVS. So, I'm updating ghilfe to use GTK2, and I'm getting the following error: Bad argument 1 to indices(). Expected string|array|mapping|multiset| object|program|function. Unknown program: indices(0) /usr/local/pike/7.6.66/lib/modules/Tools.pmod/Hilfe.pmod:1810: /home/riffraff/bin/at()->MyEvaluator()->parse_expression(Tools.Hilfe.Expre ssion(({ /* 4 elements */ "int", " ", "i", ";" }))) /usr/local/pike/7.6.66/lib/modules/Tools.pmod/Hilfe.pmod:1481: /home/riffraff/bin/at()->MyEvaluator()->add_buffer("int i;") at.pike:101: /home/riffraff/bin/at()->run(@0=GTK2.Entry,@0) _static_modules.Builtin()->Backend: Pike.Backend(0)->`()() This is from the function run(), where it calls: eval->add_buffer(what); This is in parse_expression (as shown above), at the statement: rel_parser(expr, (multiset)(indices(variables)) ); The problem is, variables is only initialized if you load a program first (with ghilfe). If you don't, variables is 0, an uninitialized mapping. So, I think perhaps it might need to be modified to: if (mappingp(variables)) rel_parser(expr, (multiset)(indices(variables)) );

I'd like to add a support module for GTK2, called GTK2Support, just like GTK has one called GTKSupport. This package has several useful composite widgets, such as an alert dialog (which does apparently was removed between GTK1 and GTK2), a simple combo list, an easier list widget (inherited from GTK2.TreeView, with some simplicity methods added), a PropertyBox widget (like the old Gnome.PropertyBox), and a simpler Text widget (inherits from GTK2.TextView, but more like a combination of TextView and TextBuffer, with some simplicity methods added). It is available on monger for 7.6, in the GTK2.21 module, if anyone wants to see what it is like, and if it is appropriate.

I did an autoscan on the GTK2 directory, and came up with this: configure.in: warning: missing AC_CHECK_TYPES([ptrdiff_t]) wanted by: pgtk.h:80 configure.in: warning: missing AC_C_CONST wanted by: pgtk.h:107 configure.in: warning: missing AC_PREREQ wanted by: autoscan configure.in: warning: missing AC_PROG_LN_S wanted by: Makefile.in:50 It created a configure.scan, which had the following options added: AC_PREREQ(2.59) AC_PROG_CC AC_PROG_LN_S AC_C_CONST AC_C_INLINE AC_CHECK_TYPES([ptrdiff_t]) Are any of these necessary, or should we put some of them in the configure.in and modify pgtk.h and Makefile.in accordingly?

destructors take an argument now?

I just realized my ClearSilver module doesn't work under pike 7.7 because destroy() is being called with a single int argument now instead of nothing. Is this supposed to be the case? And what does the argument mean? Adam

I see Jonas backported the mapping_rehash-rewrite grubba did in 7.7 to 7.6 and 7.4. This is probably good, but is there no testcase for the problem it should fix?

Another bug I found in 7.7 cvs, I think. The latest change (1.6) changes push_text() to ref_push_string(_STR()). Unfortunately, those were in a %{ %} block, which gets passed untranslated I believe. So, _STR() didn't get translated to the correct code, and GTK2.setup_gtk() returns with an undefined symbol: _STR. It should either get changed back to push_text(), or maybe to something else.
