I just reinstalled Ubuntu and it looks like I'm having some problems with some of the modules in 7.6. To get GTK to configure I added my own GTK_CONFIG=/usr/bin/gtk-config after the detection. To get freetype to compile I added my own FT_CONFIG="/usr/bin/freetype-config". How should this really be solved?

thread_create() doc

Shouldn't thread_create() be listed on namespace predef on http://pike.ida.liu.se/generated/manual/modref/ ? Or is it somehow hated because Thread.Thread()->create() exists?

Protocols.DNS.gethostbyname()

I came across a problem in Protocols.HTTP.Session last week. It seems the Session module uses gethostbyname() to perform DNS lookups and then randomly selects one of the returned IP addresses. This can cause problems under 7.7 if the selected IP is an IPv6 address and the host doesn't have IPv6 connectivity. Rather than rewriting the Session module DNS lookup, I would like to add an optional argument to the gethostbyname() method to allow selection of the types to be returned. Any thoughts?

Note that the async dns lookup functions should be changed in a similar manner, whatever the solution is.

I've been trying to compile 7.7 on OSX/Intel and am getting an error with the machine code. I thought that was fixed a few months ago. Was I wrong about that? Error follows... any thoughts/suggestions are welcome! New Caudium maintainer

Hi All, With immediate effect, I'am happy to annonce that Bill Welliver will be taking over Caudium. Bill knows very well the code and user more Caudium than me in production. So he is the best man to get orientation of Caudium future since now I have only some 3 caudium servers in production (one of them is caudium.net webserver). Bill has lots of ideas, so... :) Thanks to everyone that were working with me these years. By the way I will still there, so if something is from me and too mutch strange, you can tell me. Conference

I take it that the folks who showed interest in hosting the next conference weren't able to make things work. Is anyone else interested in holding a session this fall? Perhaps in mid-to-late september? As martin has indicated, we don't really need much space, a conference room with wifi is about all we'd need. Alternately, if nothing formal materializes, I'm thinking of making the voyage to Europe again this fall and might be able to get together to discuss projects and ideas. Anyone else at Roxen-Netherlands interested in hosting something? I didn't want to post this to the main list until there was at least someone else who felt it a good idea. Thoughts/comments? Bill

xenofarm problems

hi, i noticed some issues with some pikefarm tests never completing. since i was not sure which tests are useful, i started with all of them, and i find that feature, static and thorough in particular sometimes have issues i have one that is currently stuck in pike 7.6 static, but on a previous build it did not get stuck there (from what i remember) i tried to set a lower cpu time, but that made no difference. the test is now running for more than two days, and it seems to do nothing. in other cases i had a test stuck at using the full cpu load for hours (that probably got stopped now with the lower cpu limit) for pikefarm now i wonder, are these tests even still useful? i don't see anyone else running any of feature, static or thorough. are these not relevant anymore? should other tests be run instead? (i added a doc build test which i found useful already) for xenofarm in general, is there a way to limit the time a test runs? (abort if it is running to long?) greetings, martin.
