mktemp()

I'll take a stab at mktemp; I was wondering though, if it was strictly necessary to use the system mktemp()... would a similarly functional pike based function work just as well? Where would it best be placed? Stdio? I can get it done shortly after a little guidance from the Pike style gods. Bill

FYI: The problems with libnettle 1.15 was fixed earlier this week and it's now part of the snapshots. And since I've been using libgmp 4.2.1 for quite some time now I upgraded the 4.1.4 used by the snapshot builder. These are also the versions that will be included in dists unless 4.2.2 has some compelling fixes we need. Speaking of, where has http://www.swox.com/gmp/ gone? There is no GMP page there any more, much less a changelog...

Correction: Standards.URI.http_encode does not encode any 8-bit chars, the unused Standards.URI.quote does.

Process.run

I just checked in a Process.run() in 7.7: http://pike.ida.liu.se/development/cvs/diff.xml?module=Pike&file=7.7/lib/mo… The rational for that is that I was once again reminded by a user this week that getting Process.create_process() or Process.Process right without some corner case blocking is hard. It's not obvious that if you bind pipes to booth stderr and stdout you have to take in to account that OS buffers are not limetless. Process.run() is a thin wrapper around Process.Process that collects stdout, stderr and exitcode and return them in a mapping. This could potentially result in huge strings, but will do what most users want and even already do when they call create_process() with both pipes bound. Something like this should be in 7.8, but I'm open to suggestions for other things that might be usefull to return in the mapping or for changing member names.

7.7/precompile.pike

I just tried compiling an external module and noticed that include/ pike/precompile.pike has as its primary line: #include "../lib/modules/Tools.pmod/Standalone.pmod/precompile.pike" which isn't correct when Pike is installed. I temporarily changed the line to add an extra "../" but I know that's not the correct long term solution. Any suggestions? Bill

pike 7.6.112 bus error while running build
