Were you not able to get any C code to play through SDL either? Does your SDL library have a mixer compiled in it (I think it is optional)?

debugger opcodes

I noticed that folks have been working on code generation lately. Any chance it might be possible to implement some of the opcodes required to get debugging working (step, break, etc)? I seem to recall someone indicating it wasn't a terribly difficult task, but it's clearly beyond my understanding of the problem. Bill

Sql.pgsql behavior in case of errors

Hi everyone, I am preparing to use Postgres in my app, found the following strange behavior: ---snip--- Sql.Sql db = Sql.Sql("pgsql://localhost", "test", "test", "test"); db->query("BEGIN"); db->query("INSERT INTO requests (SvTrId) VALUES ('lala')"); catch(db->query("INSERT INTO requests (SvTrId) VALUES ('lala')")); db->query("INSERT INTO requests (SvTrId) VALUES ('juju')"); db->query("ROLLBACK"); ---snip--- Database is opened, row with 'lala' is inserted, second query (obviously) fails as SvTrId is the primary key, but row with 'juju' is inserted *and* appears in the database - i.e. the transaction is *committed*! Studying source code show, that once error is encounter, session is reset, i.e. running transaction is rolled back, everything is closed, temporary tables are deleted and session variables are reset as well, and after that, the next statement(s) will be committed immediately, as there is no active transaction. In my opinion, this is not exactly correct behavior when statement fails, as session still may be needed (especially temporary tables, open cursors etc). Im some cases, this is perfectly normal when SQL statement fails, especially in SERIALIZED transaction isolation level, and it would be more practical to leave the decision as of what to do to the application. Yes, this is true that it is impossible to continue executing statements in failed transaction, but temporary tables etc. may still be needed. Also, silent reconnection is not a good idea too - when there are many transactional statements are executed - it would be nice to have an option to modify this behavior. Best regards, /Alexander

[PATCH] De-constify hashtable lookup to prevent compiler warning

gcc on Linux is warning of an assignment that removes 'const', in a situation where the function's argument is const and the function then mutates via a local pointer. Removing 'const' from the argument silences the warning and makes it clear that the argument may be changed; or if that's not true, a more explicit cast could be done, so the compiler knows that part of it is constant and part isn't. Attached patch removes 'const'. ChrisA

Pike SSL status

Today I managed to get A rating of the Pike SSL implementation on https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/ All bars are up to 100 except the Key Exchange, where I think there is a bug in the probe or the presentation. I've managed to get it to 100 before with DHE keys of size 4096 bits, but not this time.

bin/install_module and dlopen

bin/install_module uses a plain cp to install modules. That is a bit annoying when it happens with shared objects, as dlopen on linux simply maps the file. Overwriting a .so then usually ends up crashing already running pikes. Does anyone have any objects to removing the destination before the cp?

Embedded Pike revisited

I've been doing some PCB work lately, exploring various MCUs, discovered that ARM MCUs are quite affordable these days. How feasible would a embedded-Pike be, kind of in the same spirit as this MicroPython: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/214379695/micro-python-python-for-micr… -- Stephen.

Three patches for review

I've posted each of these patches previously, but haven't heard a certain word as to their acceptance or rejection. Can someone please consider them? 1) Add a nodelay() function to Stdio.Files. There was some discussion as to whether or not this should be done in a more general way, but the discussion flagged and no conclusion was reached. 2) Represent a GTK G_TYPE_POINTER argument as an integer, rather than as an object. Every example I can find of a G_TYPE_POINTER coming back results in a segfault of Pike, which suggests that it's really not an object. I haven't found any instances where it really is meant to be an object, but that doesn't mean there aren't any. Does anyone know for sure? In any case, returning integers is safe for cases like the Notebook switch-page signal. 3) Ensure that something, at least, is pushed for every argument to a GTK signal callback function. Currently, unrecognized types can be simply skipped, resulting in stack mangling. My patch pushes the name of the type, thus preventing segfaults. The two GTK patches apply cleanly to 7.8 as well as 8.0, and can be considered bugfixes. The nodelay() function is definitely a feature addition, and is also not as important. Would love to see the GTK fixes arrive in time to go into the next published builds. Thanks! ChrisA
