Monger still gives a backtrace if you try to query a nonexistent module. Would be nice to have fixed before the next stable and should be easy to fix for anyone that has 10min free. Speaking of that, one not-so-minor cosmetic detail that I'd like to see changed in the book is the page header font size. Right now it is very big which causes the headers to look like section titles in the main flow of the text. This has confused me more than once when browsing Grubba's copy. For an example, look at http://www.lulu.com/browse/preview.php?fCID=78730 and navigate to, say, page 2. (FYI, while looking at the web preview I noticed a typo on page iv: "Institionen" -> "Institutionen".)

Ubuntu

I just reinstalled Ubuntu and it looks like I'm having some problems with some of the modules in 7.6. To get GTK to configure I added my own GTK_CONFIG=/usr/bin/gtk-config after the detection. To get freetype to compile I added my own FT_CONFIG="/usr/bin/freetype-config". How should this really be solved?

Shouldn't thread_create() be listed on namespace predef on http://pike.ida.liu.se/generated/manual/modref/ ? Or is it somehow hated because Thread.Thread()->create() exists?

Protocols.DNS.gethostbyname()

I came across a problem in Protocols.HTTP.Session last week. It seems the Session module uses gethostbyname() to perform DNS lookups and then randomly selects one of the returned IP addresses. This can cause problems under 7.7 if the selected IP is an IPv6 address and the host doesn't have IPv6 connectivity. Rather than rewriting the Session module DNS lookup, I would like to add an optional argument to the gethostbyname() method to allow selection of the types to be returned. Any thoughts?

Note that the async dns lookup functions should be changed in a similar manner, whatever the solution is.

I've been trying to compile 7.7 on OSX/Intel and am getting an error with the machine code. I thought that was fixed a few months ago. Was I wrong about that? Error follows... any thoughts/suggestions are welcome!
