release process

I've taken a look at the release process as articulated by Peter and Martin, and thrown it up on a wiki page (pretty much as-is). You can find it under "PikeDevel/Release Process". It looks, at least initially, that anyone with commit access can do these things. The only exception is the Windows build, which seems like a task best left to wizards for the time being. Anyone have any thoughts/corrections on those statements? Bill

Someone had thrown together a simple little tool on the pike website a while back that I was wondering the status of... you just tacked the method or class you wanted to know about as the path info of the script, and it bounced you to the appropriate modref page. anyone remember that? what's the status? I'm working on a plugin for textmate, and it seems like an ideal feature to add support for. Bill

If I remember correctly it was statically compiled into one, big binary. Most things in the testsuite did work though.

And whilke we are talking constants; Why does both __BUILD__ and __REAL_BUILD__ exist if emulated build is not exported? Array functions for perl lovers

One of the first questions perl people ask when they try and use Pike is "where is shift()?!" I've implemented simple versions of push(), pop(), shift() and unshift () for the Array module with refdoc pointers to ADT.Stack (arguably the correct place for them). Can someone with write access please commit it to modules/Array.pmod? I'm willing to assign copyright to IDA because it's really only a few lines of code, but I do think it's a dumb policy. Ok, we have a Pike 7.6 beta at http://pike.ida.liu.se/pub/pike/beta/7.6.43-20050820/Pike-v7.6.34.tar.gz If you find no major flaws we'll release it as is.
