Hello.
First of all I would like to say that Mattricks has big chance to became the best program for Hattrick's managers. It's better every day, and I really admire your skills and enthiusiasm in developing it ;) Thanks for your great job! Keep going ;)
Now some weird behaviour of Mattricks:
1) I suppose that he should remember my data? After launching it I've got empty tables/player lists and so on. I have to open some previous hrf file or download a new one, and then he load even all of old hrf files.
2) On summary page there is some odd string near right edge of Mattricks window. It looks like "itma" or "itra". I don't know what is it.
3) Money. I suppose that it's displayed in Swedish currency. But Mattricks add "Zloty" suffix (it's Polish currency). Could you change it to show always numbers in someone's currency?
4) Match predictions. If I paste some values from Match details then something weird happens. They are pasted well to Match prediction dialogue, but let's assume that it has pasted "poor" value for some formation and then I'll try to change it and click this popup menu, there is other level active. In this case it's "weak". For that reason it's impossible to change it to "weak". I know that it sounds cramped, but my English isn't perfect :/ Maybe you should try to "play with it" for some time and then you'll see the same effect.
And now my personal wishlist. I'll be thankful for coding it or at least for add it to TODO list ;)
1) Match viewer. Mattricks should remember chosen matches. I mean it would be great to pickup some matches on Saturday and launch Mattricks on Sunday and watch the games immediately. So Mattricks should save list of chosen matches and maybe delete them aftere there were played. Favourite list. It would be really great to have some favourite list. I mean I've got some friens in Hattrick and I often watch their games. So it would be nice to have some list of friends and button to add their next match to Match viewer.
2) League tables. Favourite list once again ;) It would be nice to have some favourite list of leagues of friends, and button to quickly switch between them.
3) Lineup selection. Someone's asked for it if I remember correctly. It would be nice to have possibility to choose formation (4-4-2, 3-5-2, and so on), before picking team. Choosing between sparing/league match also would be useful. I mean players can play with red cards in sparings.
Last but not least. What is Junior Spy? How to use it?
That's all from me now ;) I hope you consider these changes positively ;) Once again thanks for great job you've done already and good luck with next ones! ;)

In settings you can add the directories where you have your hrf-files.

Yes, this is on the TODO-list (I guess, at least we know about it)

Quite a few of these changes are planned. I agree with you that it would be useful to save which games are viewed, didn't think of that before.

This is also very likely to happen. Most likely in the form that there is a combo box where you can select between all previously downloaded fixtures.

As earlier, this is also planned.
As you all can see there is quite a few things to be done, so please consider if you are interested in helping out. Python is quite easy to read and understand, so it will be possible to help rather rapidly after starting.
Last but not least. What is Junior Spy? How to use it?
When you pick a new player from your youth squad, you minimize the HT-window before it displays the player, download a new hrf using Mattricks (click Start Junior Spy). You will then get a list with your players with the one Mattricks thinks is your youth pull marked. You select your youthpull and can then "step" the abilities one by one and one step at a time. Just to get it a bit more exciting.
You can try it without having a newly picked youth. :-)

Doh. I thought I have set it before. Ok now it works for players and summary, but it still doesn't show anything about my league. Default entries are -1, -1, but if I change it to my data then Mattricks even doesn't has to download it. So it's saved somewhere but it's not displayed at start.

Yes, my plan was like "IIj (Sverige)" and so on, but I guess that arbitrary names can be used (some day).

Yes, it is saved in the database. The default for that page is always -1, -1. This is also subject to be changed.

This would probably, as Oscar mentioned be in the form of "IIj, Sweden (15)" or something similar.

Before Sunday? ;)
Hmm.. I think that way how it's done right now it's the worst possible. Maybe simple popup list with favourite leagues and a button to Add/Remove them from that list? I don't think that someone would be changing prefered list of leagues to often, so the better way would be to simplify choosing leagues from previously selected, and other "harder" way to modify this list.
Someone had a table for choosing "IIj, Sweden" and then convert it to a league id. That is not rather convenient though since the file was 6MB. It really would be good to have a better way to do this.
No, I don't know such a database. I would like to have simple form in which I could write:
League ID: Name: [ 32492 ] [ Ragnar's league ]
Then everyone could have as big database as he wants. If someone wants to add another league then he could find ID on Hattrick's webpages.
BTW when do you intend to release new version? And don't tell me standard answer: when it's ready ;)
When it is ready. :) We have so far been able to have a release schedule of about 1 - 2 months. Hopefully this holds this time too. The 0.5 will probably be a "in-between" version with both the old hrf stuff and the new xml stuff. The hrf stuff will go eventually (I plan to use a script to convert hrf:s into xml:s, at least I think so now :)).
So think about it continually ;) I don't want to lost my old data ;)
And I prefer to submit feedback because there are always chances that new version will be more similar to what I've imagine ;) And that's the power of OpenSource software!
Indeed. As long as it doesn't lead to flamewars, project splits etc. (galeon/epiphany anyone?).
You can always merge useful features from one to another. But yes, I agree sometimes people have different opinions, and then many projects splits up unnecessary. Hopefully this won't happen with Mattricks ;)

I have already packaged it (there is a 0.4 deb on the homepage), but just for our benefit. It *should* work to just do
$ fakeroot debian/rules binary
and you get a working debian package. I have not tested it for a while though.

Ok, so I'll try to package it someday ;)
I have already packaged it (there is a 0.4 deb on the homepage), but just for our benefit. It *should* work to just do
$ fakeroot debian/rules binary
and you get a working debian package. I have not tested it for a while though.
Yes I've looked through it and it isn't ready for showing to any official Developer yet. It isn't lintian/linda clean and I'll have to work on it first. But as a start point is good, and after cleaning it I'll try to ask for sponsor to upload it to Debian. I can't upload it myself cause I'm not Debian developer yet (last stage of process).
My league has id 4605. :)
That was my league id. I've checked your now, but I have no idea, which team is yours :/. Maybe some sparing for two weeks? ;)
My team is the one that is on second place (Malmslätts Jordelementarer), teamid 40132.
Ok, now I've found it ;)
No, you should not lose your data, it was more thinking of which way the user should be able to keep his data.
So Mattricks would always support either hrf or xml? Or do you intend to remove support for hrf someday?
We intend to have backward compability functions, but when everything now only available through hrf is available through xml, we will drop the possibility to download new hrf:s.
Ok. Sounds clear enough for me.
Hmm.. I thought that league id is in hrf file in some readable format, but now I've checked it and it's not ;) Ok, I won't ask for it once again, cause it's not trivial thing to do.
It will probably be done through the team details xml, plus some other xml:s.
That's strange that Hattrick doesn't provide such basic information in useful form. But I've checked xml downloaded by HattrickOrganizer and they have league id in one of the file.
It is available in team details. But we don't make use of that xml yet.
Ok.

Hello.
First of all I would like to say that Mattricks has big chance to became the best program for Hattrick's managers. It's better every day, and I really admire your skills and enthiusiasm in developing it ;) Thanks for your great job! Keep going ;)
Thankfully it gets better. It would be sad if it got worse the more we worked on it.
Now some weird behaviour of Mattricks:
- I suppose that he should remember my data? After launching it I've got empty tables/player lists and so on. I have to open some previous hrf file or download a new one, and then he load even all of old hrf files.
Add your directory with hrf:s in in "Preferences -> General -> Catalogs with hrf-files in". If that doesn't work, there is something strange going on.
- On summary page there is some odd string near right edge of Mattricks window. It looks like "itma" or "itra". I don't know what is it.
You can add your team logo there, if it isn't there it can get some strange results unfortunately.
- Money. I suppose that it's displayed in Swedish currency. But Mattricks add "Zloty" suffix (it's Polish currency). Could you change it to show always numbers in someone's currency?
This is planned to be added before next release.
- Match predictions.
Yes, there seems to be some glitch in the workings. Somehow the menus seem "stuck" on a particular attribute.
And now my personal wishlist. I'll be thankful for coding it or at least for add it to TODO list ;)
- Match viewer. Mattricks should remember chosen matches. I mean it would be great to pickup some matches on Saturday and launch Mattricks on Sunday and watch the games immediately. So Mattricks should save list of chosen matches and maybe delete them aftere there were played.
Yes, there definitely should be some way to remember things. Perhaps finished matches should not be remembered, but ongoing or not started should?
Favourite list. It would be really great to have some favourite list. I mean I've got some friens in Hattrick and I often watch their games. So it would be nice to have some list of friends and button to add their next match to Match viewer.
We will add some way to ease the selecting of matches. We already have a way from the league fixtures to add next round to the match viewer.
- League tables. Favourite list once again ;) It would be nice to have some favourite list of leagues of friends, and button to quickly switch between them.
Also planned. Not decided how to do this in a user friendly way.
- Lineup selection. Someone's asked for it if I remember correctly. It would be nice to have possibility to choose formation (4-4-2, 3-5-2, and so on), before picking team.
Planned for 0.5 and asked for far too frequently imo. :)
Choosing between sparing/league match also would be useful. I mean players can play with red cards in sparings.
Yes, something like this has been planned. I plan to do some recoding of the team selection, to work a bit better.
Last but not least. What is Junior Spy? How to use it?
That is really for Oscar to answer, because I almost never use it. I think it is for increasing the excitement of getting juniors.
That's all from me now ;) I hope you consider these changes positively ;) Once again thanks for great job you've done already and good luck with next ones! ;)
Nothing wrong with asking for features. I prefer getting feedback (even bad ones) than not getting anything at all. If you don't get any feedback at all it probably means it's so bad that they didn't even bother to complain about it.

Yep, it's better and better, but as almost every software it's not perfect and it needs some work yet ;)

Ok it works now, but not for leage table.

Hmm... so I'll have to prepare some logo for my team ;)
- Money. I suppose that it's displayed in Swedish currency. But Mattricks add "Zloty" suffix (it's Polish currency). Could you change it to show always numbers in someone's currency?

Great.

Ok, good to know that you also know about it.

Yes, that what I would prefer. Every finished match can go to /dev/null, but every unplayed should stay on that list.
Favourite list. It would be really great to have some favourite list. I mean I've got some friens in Hattrick and I often watch their games. So it would be nice to have some list of friends and button to add their next match to Match viewer.

Yes, I've checked it and it's easy way to add matches from my league. But there should be easy way for adding matches of my friends.
- League tables. Favourite list once again ;) It would be nice to have some favourite list of leagues of friends, and button to quickly switch between them.
Also planned. Not decided how to do this in a user friendly way.
- Lineup selection. Someone's asked for it if I remember correctly. It would be nice to have possibility to choose formation (4-4-2, 3-5-2, and so on), before picking team.
Planned for 0.5 and asked for far too frequently imo. :)
BTW when do you intend to release new version? And don't tell me standard answer: when it's ready ;)
Choosing between sparing/league match also would be useful. I mean players can play with red cards in sparings.
Yes, something like this has been planned. I plan to do some recoding of the team selection, to work a bit better.

I've got weak Youth School yet so pulling youths isn't exciting for me at all ;) Almost every youth goes to cemetery ;)

And I prefer to submit feedback because there are always chances that new version will be more similar to what I've imagine ;) And that's the power of OpenSource software!
