To answer this question, I started this list in March or April 1993, after Project Runeberg was first announced. Yes, that's almost 14 years ago. My hope was that the list would serve as a discussion forum for how to develop and extend the ideas behind the project. However, much to my disappointment such discussions have only rarely taken place, and instead the list is used for announcements by me and other editors, i.e. the project's inner circle. Some subscribers are getting used to this, and when a discussion does take place (once every two years, such as now), they get upset and leave the list.
In addition to this list, we now also have a web forum at http://runeberg.org/forum/
The project's "editors" also have an internal forum for daily discussions. Currently, the active editors are me, Hans Persson (unicorn) and Joakim Ragnvaldsson (jr). However, the editor's forum has 12 more (now passive) members. Some of them read the forum, without actively contributing to the project.
This list is not a digest list per se. It is a list where the mailing list software (Gnu Mailman) gives the subscriber the option to receive a daily digest of messages. I'm personally not a friend of this option, but I haven't disabled it. Subscribers who use this option should know what they do. Since there is almost no traffic on the list, the digest option gives no real advantage. Subscribers who wish to take part in discussions will find that it is hard to comment on a single message when they only receive a daily digest of messages.
Every message on this list contains an address to the listinfo page, where you can manage your subscription.
