Hello,
if anyone is interested, here are my Mandrake 9.1 adventures with the usbat-2
driver and a Dane-Elec card reader.
A. Driver
:(
- I could not get the usbat-02-20021117 version to compile ( errors in
transport.c about urb )
- Also, the posted Mandrake 9.1 kernel patch did not work (same errors)
:)
-The new development version (in cvs) does work for me.
B. Hotplug
I had to add an entry for my Dane Elec reader to the hotplug config ( details
at request) and replace the existing usb-storage module.
C. Result
After getting hotplug to work, Mandrake automatically added an entry to fstab
and placed an icon on my desktop. This icon showed the mount state of the
card, could be used to mount it and to start Konqueror.
Very nice : if you mount the device manually the icon also changes. KDE is
tracking mtab ( or /proc/mounts) !
D. Other mount experiments
I wanted the safeguard the device against sudden removal
:(
- supermount still shows files after removal of device and proved useless.
:)
- autofs does work ok. This is what I use in the end. Only drawback : it
makes the desktop icon useless as a mount indicator ( mtab always says
"mounted")
Regards,
Christophe
